The global retail giant launched the Lumberyard engine in February this year and officially entered the field of game development. Since then, Amazon has added many new features to the engine, including support for virtual reality. Amazon now announces the launch of Lumberyard Beta 1.5, adding several new features and optimizing them.
The new version optimizes the Particle Editor and adds a property panel. Now you can drag common properties into the UI panel and save it for your next use or share. In addition, a new detail system allows you to control the optimization of visual effects within a limited range based on their distance from the game camera.
The Lumberyard Asset Builder SDK was debuted in this update. For users who create custom tools that require specialized asset types, the SDK allows them to track, reload, auto-rebuild, and process all assets required by the game or internal tools via the Asset Processor.
As for VR, the updated version supports the HMD head of OSVR, which further increases Lumberyard's appeal to VR developers.
More detailed feature updates and optimizations are detailed below, if you want to see the full 210 optimizations and fixes. Xiao Bian will continue to report readers to Lumberyard's latest news. Some of the relevant features of virtual reality are optimized as follows:
