[High-tech LED] US equipment giant Veeco has announced that Taiwan's LED chip factory Yuyuan Optoelectronics and its mainland subsidiary Jiangsu Shengyang have jointly ordered Veeco's multiple four-chamber Maxbright MOCVD system.
As of this year's Q1, there are 56 MOCVDs in Yuanyuan and 25 MOCVD in Jiangsu. Previously, the company had expected to increase the number of Taiwanese factories in 2011 by 10 units; Jiangsu Shengyang will increase 11 units of MOCVD, which will be expanded to 50 units by the end of 2011.
It is reported that the investment in Yuanyuan is about 37.5%, the investment in LGD and Ruixuan is about 15%, the Dongbei is about 10%, and the investment in Hejing is about 600,000 US dollars, accounting for only about 1%. Wooree LED, a subsidiary of South Korea's Wooree ETI, also holds about 5% of the shares.
