The first 220kV smart substation of State Grid was put into operation in Jiangsu

On December 30th, the first 220kV national power grid in China, the first in the country to fully realize the integration of the Internet of Things technology and high-voltage power control technology, built a new smart substation, Xiqiao Substation, which was commissioned in Wuxi, Jiangsu.

Wuxi is building a comprehensive “perceived China Center”. The substation built and put into operation here adopts advanced, reliable, integrated, low-carbon, and environmentally-friendly smart devices, and comprehensively uses technologies such as smart sensing, network communications, real-time monitoring, and expert systems. The traditional sense of "activation" of equipment, so that it has intelligence, and then realize self-awareness, discrimination and intelligent decision-making, automatic completion of the order control, on-line monitoring of a device, the auxiliary system of intelligent linkage and advanced applications such as substation automation systems, etc. Created many of the first smart substation construction.

For the first time in the country, the background integration and remote application of large-scale, multi-parameter on-line monitoring systems are implemented, which provides technical support for the implementation of equipment condition maintenance, thereby reducing the number of periodic maintenances and outages, and can greatly improve the reliability of power supply, equipment use efficiency and life. In China, the first use of Internet of Things technology to establish sensor monitoring network, the station deployed 385 flooding, smoke, temperature and humidity sensors, equipped with 55 high-definition camera and 2 infrared thermal imager and sound and light alarm and other facilities The independent substations, including image monitoring, security guards, fire alarms, fire protection, water supply and drainage, and heating and ventilation, have achieved integrated applications through a unified communications protocol, and together with the on-line monitoring system, constitute an intelligent inspection system for substations. No manual or robot inspection is required. The remote monitoring center can keep track of the operation of the equipment and auxiliary systems in the station and diagnose and deal with the abnormal phenomena in a timely manner.

For the first time, a full-scale all-fiber current transformer is used in the entire country to provide comprehensive and high-quality sampling data for protection, measurement, and measurement. For the first time, an on-line comparison verification system for digital metering systems and conventional metering systems has been established in China, and is a relevant national department. Theoretically, the measurement accuracy is superior to the conventional digital measurement system certification and promotion application. It is reported that the State Intellectual Property Office has accepted the "Substation Intelligent Monitoring and Auxiliary Control System Based on the Internet of Things", "Intelligent Video Substation Inspection Quality Certification System" and "Smart Substation Measurement Real-Time Comparative Analysis System" submitted by the station's design and construction. Wait for 10 invention or utility model patent applications.

During the construction of this station, the concept of resource conservation, environmental friendliness and industrialization was implemented: large-scale use of small-sized, small-area combined electrical equipment, and optimized layout, covering an area of 6,699 and 4,788 square meters respectively, and standardization. Compared with the scaled design, the design reduces the area of 435 m2 (6.1%) and the building area of 666 m2 (12.2%) respectively; through the use of multiple network communication and information technologies, the use of control cables and communication cables is greatly reduced; The local layout method saves 44% of the screen space in the secondary equipment room and 30% of the total station cable material. In addition to the difference between the smart station and the conventional station, the project uses nearly 15 tons of less-used copper material. "Green lighting" program, equipped with LED energy-saving lamps, saves 31.6% of electricity compared with substations of the same size; with intelligent ventilation system, the entire station can save 25 kilowatts of electricity load. It is estimated that the cost of smart substations will be lower than that of conventional stations when they are matured and widely used.

Sun Zhusen, an investigator of the State Grid Corporation of China, believes that this station is the first 220 kV station put into operation in the pilot project of 46 new smart substations of the State Grid Corporation of China. It fully met the expectations of the construction of smart substations, and the design and construction level was ahead of the nation. The State Grid Corporation of China has played a leading and demonstration role in the construction of system intelligent substations.

According to reports, as early as when the State Grid Corporation proposed building a strong smart grid, the Jiangsu Provincial Electric Power Company actively carried out related research work on smart substations. The research distance exceeded 10,000 kilometers, and more than 100 domestic and foreign documents were searched. 100, laid the foundation for the design and construction of smart substations. After 10 special arguments, the 220-kilovolt Xiqiao substation design plan took into consideration technical innovation and reliable operation, advanced programs, and economical rationality, and formed a special intelligent report. At the end of 2009, it successfully passed expert review organized by the State Grid Corporation of China. Experts hailed as "the most advanced technology and the most economical" program.

The station started in March 2010 and entered electrical construction in July. In order to ensure that it is completed and put into operation by the end of 2010, Jiangsu Corporation has established a leading team for engineering construction led by General Manager Feng Jun, to promote the pilot construction of smart substations, and the relevant leaders have repeatedly visited the construction site to guide and coordinate the solution to the construction of the project. Difficulties, key issues; construction, design, construction, supervision, commissioning, and other relevant parties worked together to go all out, completed the project construction tasks with high quality and efficiency.

"Background information"

In 2009, the State Grid Corporation of China proposed to base itself on independent innovation and accelerate the development of a strong smart grid with the characteristics of informatization, automation, and interactive features. To meet the economic and social development needs of electricity, to meet the challenges posed by resources and environmental issues, to adapt to the needs of diversification of energy and electricity service demand. Smart substations are an important link and component of a strong smart grid. The State Grid Corporation of China has identified and launched 46 pilot projects for smart substation projects, of which the construction of three substations of 110 kV and one 220 kV has been completed and put into operation in 2010.
