According to reports, Intel is setting up a special business unit to develop autopilot solutions. Its name is called Automated Driving Group (ADG).
The new ADG will be led by Intel veteran Doug Davis, who will serve as vice president and general manager of the division, and he previously headed the company's IoT division.
Automated driving technology is only part of what ADG is mandated. The division will also focus on driver assistance technology to supply chips for automotive manufacturers including BMW, Daimler, Hyundai, Toyota and Tesla.
The establishment of ADG is part of the Intel Management Restructuring Program, but the dedicated division dedicated to autonomous driving technology is perhaps the most compelling throughout the program.
Earlier, Intel CEO Koziannik announced on the 15th that Intel plans to invest more than $250 million in autonomous vehicles in the next two years, pushing fully autonomous driving technology into a real-world application.
