Cirrus Logic introduces the CS4525, an innovative, highly integrated, single-chip Class D amplifier specifically for the fast-growing flat-panel digital TV market worldwide. The CS4525 is attractive for its integrated stereo analog-to-digital converter, sample rate converter, digital audio processor and a complete 30W Class D amplifier, including controller and power stage. And, the CS4525 supports the entry of analog and digital audio signals. With its efficient power stage, the system design eliminates the need for a heat sink. The CS4525 features an on-board digital audio processor that provides features such as parametric equalization, auxiliary output for lip sync delay, and bass management. Its stereo setup provides 15W per channel and supports 2.1 channel configurations (2 x 7.5W plus 1 x 15W per channel) and low frequency configuration (1 x 30W). In addition, Cirrus Logic comes with a cost-effective power stage integrated circuit CS4412 for OEMs.
The CS4525 features a 24-bit multi-bit delta-sigma architecture that delivers 100dB of dynamic range with superior audio performance. The built-in sample rate converter simplifies the design and reduces the effects of clock jitter while processing different audio signals at various frequencies (such as PCM stereo, DVD audio, etc.). Cirrus Logic also uses patent pending thermal warning technology and reflex technology to automatically reduce output levels when the internal chip temperature generates excessive heat. This is a very important performance for flat-panel TVs where video and system accessories can generate a lot of heat.
