STANLEY Electric introduces the development plan for white LEDs for lighting

STANLEY Electric introduced an application example of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for lighting fixtures and in-vehicle equipment at CEATEC JAPAN 2006. As a lighting-oriented application, the company demonstrated the illumination of white LEDs with different color temperatures and presented future development plans. Among them, the average color rendering index (Ra) of up to 90 varieties, each set of beam size of 60lm, the existing products for store lighting, is expected to double to 120lm in 2007, and further increase to 300lm after 2008, the use of expansion To residential lighting. From the perspective of luminous efficiency, it will increase from less than 30 lm/W to 50 lm/W in 2007, and will further increase to more than 100 lm/W after 2008. As an application for in-vehicle devices, the company exhibited a combined taillight that uses optical components to emit light from a light-emitting diode (LED) in a ring. The light emitted by the LED is guided by the optical component and radiated in a ring shape. The visibility can be improved by diffusing the light of the point source LED in a ring shape. LED beam utilization is as high as 75-80%, thus reducing power consumption. The company explained that if optical components are not used, but commercially available LEDs are used directly in the taillights, the utilization of the beam is only a few percent. In addition, the company also exhibited headlights using white LEDs.
