China, Beijing – Analog Devices , Inc., the world's leading provider of high-performance signal processing solutions, today introduced eight SHARC® processors as part of its new line of high-performance, energy-efficient real-time processors. Two enhanced SHARC+® cores and advanced DSP accelerators (FFT, FIR, IIR) with peak performance exceeding 24 Gigabit floating point operations per second. The ADSP-SC58x and ADSP-2158x series consume less than 2 watts at high temperatures, making the new processor family more than five times more energy efficient than previous SHARC products, more than twice as powerful as the most competitive processors. This advantage can lead to industry-leading digital signal processing performance in applications where thermal management limits power consumption or can't tolerate costly, low-reliability fans. Applications include automotive, consumer and professional audio, multi-axis motor control, energy distribution systems, and more.
The ADSP-SC58x product complements the SHARC+ core and DSP accelerator family and adds an ARM® Cortex-A5 processor. The FPU and Neon® DSP extended instruction set can handle additional real-time processing tasks and management peripherals to connect audio. Time-critical data in industrial closed-loop control and industrial inspection applications. These interfaces include a Gigabit Ethernet interface (supporting AVB and IEEE-1588), a high-speed USB interface, removable storage (including SD/SDIO), PCI Express, and a variety of other connectivity options for a flexible and streamlined system design.
The ADSP-2158x family (excluding the ARM Cortex-A5 core) is intended for applications that typically require a DSP coprocessor, including two SHARC+ cores and DSP accelerators, along with a set of peripherals that match the core.
In the context of software intellectual property protection becoming a major security concern in the industry, we also introduced ARM®TrustZone® security features and an onboard cryptographic hardware accelerator. For applications where reliability is critical, data integrity can be improved with memory parity and error correction hardware.
The new ADSP-SC58x and ADSP-2158x families feature high integration and low power consumption, which significantly reduces bill of materials and board footprint, reduces design complexity, and reduces time-to-market for today's complex applications.

In addition, ADI and Micrium have worked closely together to deliver the μC/OS-II® and μC/OS-III® real-time cores on the SHARC+ and ARM Cortex-A5 cores, as well as the Micrium USB host and USB devices running on the ARM Cortex-A5. And the file system stack.

Pricing, evaluation boards and product samples
