Overview:

The multi-function charger introduced in this example has the functions of constant current pulse charging, tear flow charging, voltage limiting protection, constant/over temperature protection, etc., and can charge a single-cell nickel-purple battery or a nickel-hydrogen battery.

Circuit working principle:
The multi-function charger circuit is composed of a step-down capacitor C, thyristors VT1, VT2, resistors Rl-R4, diodes VD1, VD2, potentiometers RP1, RP2, thermistor RT, and light-emitting diodes VLl and VL2.

After the AC 220V voltage is stepped down by C, the batteries GB1 and GB2 are charged through VD1 and VD2, respectively. When the battery GB1 is fully charged, the VT2 is triggered to be turned on, and the battery GB1 is switched from the constant current pulse charging state to the tear flow charging state. When the battery GB2 is fully charged, VT1 is triggered to be turned on, and GB2 is switched from the constant current pulse charging state to the current discharging state. VL1 and VL2 are charging indicators. VL1 is used as the charging indicator of GB1, and VL2 is used as the charging indicator of GB2. When the battery is fully charged, the brightness of the charge indicator is reduced. Adjusting the resistance of RPl and RP2 can change the level of the charging voltage.
