Littelfuse TVS Diode Array Protects HBLED Strings from ESD and EFT Damage

Littelfuse, a global leader in circuit protection, has launched a new family of transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode arrays called the SP1064 series. These devices are specifically designed to safeguard electronic components from destructive electrostatic discharge (ESD) and electrical fast transients (EFT). Each input/output pin is protected by these advanced Zener diodes, which are manufactured using Littelfuse’s proprietary silicon avalanche technology.

The SP1064 series offers exceptional performance, capable of handling the highest levels of repetitive ESD discharges as defined by the IEC61000-4-2 international standard without any degradation in functionality. This makes them an ideal choice for protecting high-speed signal lines, thanks to their very low load capacitance—typically 8.5pF per input/output.

These TVS diodes are especially well-suited for applications such as backlighting and sidelight systems in ultra-HDTVs, LCD, plasma, and other display technologies. Whether it's for desktops, notebooks, or point-of-sale displays, the SP1064 series provides reliable and cost-effective protection for high-brightness LED strings.

The key benefits of the SP1064 series include:

• A high off-state voltage of up to 60V, making it possible to protect up to 15 high-brightness LEDs in ultra-HDTV backlights or sidelights.
• Each four-wire DFN array can protect up to four lines of LED strings. A single device is sufficient for small displays, while larger displays require only one device per quadrant.
• Offers at least 15kV contact protection for 8/20μs ESD, providing superior ESD protection compared to similar products on the market.
• Utilizes the industry-standard uDFN-10 package, ensuring a compact, low-cost solution with excellent reliability.
