Now, let's get started with the real deal. A series of posts about HDTV recording: A little use of ER130 and GC550 from AVerMedia. This is a series of stinky and long recording box evaluations. Initially, LD asked me to prepare a video of the sports game, covering all the races, and it was necessary for research purposes. My initial thoughts were simple: the game is mainly about the omnipotent wolf grandmother.

The ER310 shell is made of black plastic and the top and bottom frosted particles are much coarser than the four side panels. From the official chart, there is still a certain sense of design, and the hand is actually quite good.

In fact, in addition to the USB 2.0 and infrared receiving window, the front panel is equipped with indicator lights. Under different circumstances, the working status of the ER310 can be clearly seen through the cooperation of the indicator lights. â— Infrared emitter interface: Used to connect infrared emitters. As far as the infrared emitters are concerned, a detailed explanation will be given later, which is also an important part of the completion of unattended appointment recording.
â— Chromatic aberration and audio interface, HDMI input, HDMI output: With these interfaces, let ER310 take good care of the analog input and digital input, basically home entertainment equipment can be taken into account. And regardless of the use of color and audio interface or HDMI input, you can use the HDMI output. With the ER310's own video PassThrough function, for analog display devices without analog inputs, it can be said that an analog-to-digital converter is omitted.
â— Network interface: As mentioned before, it is only used to collect time information. Although there is no need for manual timing, there is still an error in the timing of the server and TV station. It is more convenient than manual, but it is also more error than manual.
â— Power connector: 12V1.5A input round plug, compared to the ER130 can be said to change more.
Compared with the ER130, there are two significant changes in the ER310 power supply. Third, unattended do well: ER310 features introduced
The ER310 is naturally said to be characterized by its features compared to the ER130. Due to space limitations, it is similar to the ER130 in terms of features (after all, it was born out of the ER130). You can find the first one in this series before The content of the test.

(a) boot settings and menu display
1, boot settings
The first step: language setting. Since the ER310 is not currently sold on the mainland, I did not plan to go public in mainland China by emailing Yuangang (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. Therefore, the Chinese option in the language option is only available in Traditional Chinese. ↓
Step 2: Authorization instructions. The main thing is to tell you that the "User Experience Improvement Project" is enabled by default. Of course, you can close it in the "Settings" submenu of the menu after setting. ↓
The third step: Pass Through. It is recommended to turn it on here so that when the ER310 is powered on (whether it is powered on or not), as long as there is an input signal, it will output the signal synchronously through HDMI. ↓
Step 4: Quick setup. The system will automatically set the network settings, time, and storage path. Two conditions are required to connect the storage device (internal, external) and connect the wired network (Of course, no connection is also possible, manually set the time after power on). ↓
Step 5: Set the result. The network connection status, date and time, and current storage path information will be displayed. It should be noted here that if you connect the internal storage and external storage before the first boot, the external storage will be used as the preferred storage path during the automatic configuration. After the boot is complete, you can modify the settings in the "Settings" to be built-in. store. In the beginning, I didn't really understand the meaning of this operation, but then I went to the test session. I found this to be very meaningful. See the file management section later.
Step 6: Setup Complete and Welcome Screen. Tell the user the main operating tips and then the welcome screen. ↓
2, open the main menu
Press the menu key on the remote control after powering up to call out the main menu. ↓
â— Upper left corner: Displays the current recording device type, and the current recording settings and disk space recording time. As shown in the figure, the device is a USB device (see the USB icon carefully) and the remaining time is 2 hours and 49 minutes.
â— Upper right corner: shows the networking status and current time. When the network is successful, there is a check mark on the earth.
â— Central: There are only four options, “A/V Collection/Post Productionâ€, “File Managementâ€, “Appointment Video Listâ€, and “Settingsâ€. The first option is the same as the ER130. Video preview and post-editing can be realized without introduction. "File management" can realize file management with built-in storage and external storage; "Reservation video list" can achieve up to 100 groups of scheduled recordings, powerful functions ; "Setting" about infrared remote control settings will also be described in detail.
â— Bottom: operation prompts. Regardless of ER130 or ER310, its UI design has an advantage. At the bottom of any interface that needs to be operated, there are operational hints, which can be said to be very intimate. It should be noted that when you need to uninstall external storage, you need to press "F1" in the main menu to uninstall the device, otherwise it may damage the data and storage device.
Since the introduction of menu functions will inevitably waste a lot of space and time, therefore, here to talk about the ER310's operating focus, that is, "unattended recording reservations" and "recorded video exchanges inside and outside" under it, according to "IR settings → The procedure for scheduling an appointment → recording a video → copying a video shows the operation of the ER310.
(B) infrared function settings
The first step: open the main menu, enter the "settings" submenu, select "infrared device." Here the ER310 will remind you to connect the IR emitter to the ER310 and attach the emitter to the set-top box IR receiver. ↓
Step 2: Select the source of the signal. I chose HDMI here. ↓
Step 3: Select the set-top box you want to record. Since the ER310 is not issued on the mainland, the set-top box set-up parameters will not be pre-stored. Therefore, select the "Add another set-top box" option. ↓
Step 4: There are several options for this step. The first "key learning" we do not look at first; the second is to select "interval speed of two buttons", through this setting you can select the time interval between every two keys when the ER310 to the remote control command of the set top box to Gehua Wired HMT-2000SH set-top box as an example, shorter (500 milliseconds) can be, for the slower response of the set-top box can be adjusted to a longer length; the third "set-top box wake-up time" refers to each reservation before recording, ER310 need to be advanced How long does it take to turn on the set top box by remote control? For safety reasons, I set the maximum time to minutes; the fourth “key learning (special)†is for the special model where the first option “key learning†is unsuccessful. If you have a problem with the first item, you can choose to return to this item. ↓
After these settings are set, you can open the first option "key learning".
Step 5: Press to learn to prepare. Here to tell the user, when learning, it is necessary to put the set-top box remote control in the ER310 infrared receiving window within a distance of 5 cm to ensure the success of learning. ↓
Step 6: Learn about the number keys, the confirmation key, and the on/off key.
The steps for each learning are as follows: [Place the set top box remote controller on the ER310 Infrared Receiving Window, press the corresponding button according to the screen prompts] → [ER310 to learn] → [Prompt the user to press the F1 key in the ER310 remote controller to test] → [Function of the ER310 remote set top box operation corresponding key] → [If unsuccessful, press the F2 key of the ER310 remote controller to learn again; if successful, press the F3 key of the ER310 remote control to learn the next key]. This completes the learning of a keystroke, and so on until it completes the learning of all keys. As shown below. ↓
Careful friends may have noticed that in the "keystroke learning" interface, you can still see the contents of [10], [11], [12], and [.] that need to be learned. Because the domestic set-top box remote controller does not have these four keys Therefore, you can press the "OK" button on the ER310 remote controller to learn these four buttons.
After completing all studies, you can exit to the main menu.
(3) Schedule recording settings
1. Let's schedule an appointment first
Since the time and date have already been set (if the network is not set, if no network needs to be set manually first) and the set-top box input source (HDMI) and the infrared remote control key learning function are set in the "infrared function setting", then You can make a reservation video by going down.
The first step: open the "reservation video list" in the main menu, ER310 will remind you that the set-top box should be turned on when scheduled video recording (because ER310 can support the set-top box's automatic switch function, this issue will be discussed later in this section) ↓
Step 2: Press "F1" in the "Reservation Schedule" button to add an appointment schedule. ↓
Step 3: Input the number of the channel to be recorded by the left, right, and up/down keys of the remote control. This number is the channel number in the set-top box, and then press "OK". ↓
Step 4: Enter the specific time you want to record, including the start time, end time, recording frequency, and end date. It is still done through the four-way arrow keys. ↓
There are a few things to note:
â— The start date can be set to start date, which is less than the ER130 knows where to go.
â— The time in the start time can be set arbitrarily, but if there is a conflict with the previous recording reservation, the ER310 will prompt you and it will prompt you to replace the previous appointment.
â— The end time must be set after the start time (nonsense, but the ER310 will prompt you if you set it before), but no more than 14 hours.
â— Frequency options, Available options are Once, Daily, Weekly, Monday to Friday. When you select an option other than “Onceâ€, it is “series videoâ€. The reservable length of "series video" is three months, which can be adjusted by manually adjusting the end date.
â— If the interval between the scheduled recording start time and the current time is less than the set-top box startup time set in the infrared setting, the ER310 will prompt you to manually turn on the set-top box.
2. What is the procedure for performing scheduled recording?
OK, you can see that there is already an appointment I just made in the list. ↓
Let's take a look at how the ER310 is scheduled to record while the set-top box is powered on.
The first step is to jump out of the prompt 60 seconds before the scheduled video recording. The video is about to start, and the additional channel and start-end time information. ↓
Second step: Promptly switch the channel 40 seconds before scheduled recording, do not operate the set-top box, and attach the channel, start-end time information. ↓
Step 3: Enter the channel number 30 seconds before the scheduled recording (ER310 will input the channel number twice), and prompt that the channel will be switched, do not operate the set-top box, and attach the channel and start-end time information. ↓
Step 4: Prompt to record the current channel 20 seconds before the scheduled recording, do not operate the set-top box, and attach the channel, start-end time information. ↓
Step 5: Start recording at the scheduled time and display the current recording duration. ↓
Step 6: Complete the recording at the end of the appointment, black screen and jump out of the prompt being processed. ↓
Step 7: Processing is complete and instant playback begins. The operator can terminate the playback through the remote controller and return to the live state of the set-top box. ↓
3, ER310, set-top box automatic switch machine, unattended recording TV program
Through the demonstration just now, the ER310 can implement scheduled recording with channel switching function on its own and the set-top box is powered on. Can reservation video be completed in the ER310 and STB standby states? Naturally.
First of all, say that ER310, after setting a reservation recording list, ER310 will automatically start recording according to the reservation time, and return to standby after the recording is completed.
In addition to the set-top box, if the ER310 is required to start the set-top box from the standby state to the power-on state before the recording starts, according to the instruction manual and my personal test, the following conditions must be met:
◠First of all, when the set-top box is in the standby state, it cannot output the signal to the ER310. Otherwise, the ER310 can only be automatically started before the reservation time, and the remote start-up of the set-top box cannot be realized. The reason is simple. The ER310 determines if the set top box is powered on by signal input. Therefore, if your set-top box outputs a signal when it is turned off, or you connect the device with the line connection of "Set-top box → HDMI switcher → ER310", and HDMI will output a signal when the set-top box is shut down, you can only record at the scheduled time. Turn on the set-top box before time to record the correct video.
â— Second, if the set-top box has the function of "Automatic Shutdown (Standby)", be sure to turn it off to avoid affecting normal recording.
After meeting the above conditions, if the set-top box is turned off before the scheduled recording, the ER310 will turn off the set-top box after the recording technology; if the set-top box is turned on before recording, the ER310 will maintain the set-top box's power-on state.
Ah, as for power consumption, the ER310 is less than 0.5W in standby mode.
(4) File Management Functions
This function in the main menu enables content exchange (copying each other) internally stored in the external storage and content management (removal) of each storage itself. However, it should be noted that this function can only manage the ER310's own recorded video and pictures. ↓
Take copying internal files to the mobile hard disk as an example.
Step 1: Select the storage location of the copied files on the mobile hard disk. Select the folder by moving the left and right buttons to the external storage window on the right. ↓
Step 2: Go back to the internal storage window on the left. Use the arrow keys and the OK key to select the file you want to copy to the right. At this point, you will see the five buttons in the middle of the left and right windows. The "Copy" button lights up. ↓
Step 3: Move to the middle area and select the “Copy to mobile device†button. The ER310 will start copying files to the mobile hard disk. After copying is completed, a prompt will be displayed. ↓
but! The copy speed is abnormally slow! The file I copied is 541MB. The ER310 has a 500GB mechanical notebook hard drive. The external device is Seagate 1T mechanical mobile hard drive. Guess how long this 541MB file has been copied? 1 minute 42 seconds, 5.3MB per second transmission speed! If according to my previous purchase needs, a 9GB calculation for a volleyball match, it takes 1838 seconds to copy it from the internal storage. It takes half an hour! Originally thought that the SATA II hard disk interface and USB2.0 external interface card performance, did not expect to actually be more than enough...... This is really a new product launched in August 2016 it??
Since the turtle speed is replicated from the inside out, it has to mention a small function of the ER310, which is the USB external device automatic reminder function.
(five) automatically switch to external storage devices
If the USB external storage device is inserted before the ER310 is started, it will remind you whether to change the storage path to a USB external storage device after the startup is completed. Press F1 at this time to complete the switch. ↓
In fact, at first I thought this function was a bit redundant until I had done the above copy test. Ha ha.
Fourth, the routine Tucao still have: ER310 small defects concentrated Tucao
The advantages of the ER310 I will not introduce more here, because it is born out of the ER130, in addition to inheriting the advantages of the ER130, the 100 group appointment video, automatic wake-up reservation video can be said not only icing on the cake, is the artifact level. To put aside these talks, I still have to talk about its pitfalls. After all, it is also very obvious.
(a) This transmission speed
First of all, this transmission speed is already in 2017. All the transmission interfaces are using the old specifications. Even if the old ones are used, even the upper limit of the speed is not up to the standard, which is slightly disappointing. If only the internal hard disk is recorded, it will be okay to delete it after reading it. For example, I need to copy to a computer to save.
However, the solution is also simple and crude: use the external storage device to record directly.
(b) The video quality
The question of picture quality has already been said in the first article. In short, the best picture quality is not high quality. The picture quality setting is exactly the same as the ER130 (in fact, there is also a GC530 recording parameter, which is the same as we said in the next section). If you want to record the game, you don’t need a high-quality program. The need to collect some high-quality video (such as satellite television programs, console games, video, etc.) is indeed more than enough.
Do you ask me a solution? Buy a serious HD video capture card.
(c) The wired network port
The internet port is a good thing. It can be connected to the Internet, but it is only used for time, but it is also not accurate. According to my usage, the network time will be a few seconds slower than Beijing time (I'm comparing with my home TV, radio, mobile phone, radio clock, and let everyone down), so I'm aiming for a specific period of time It will start one minute ahead of schedule and end one minute later to avoid missing content. Due to the lack of understanding of the timing mechanism of the ER310, there is only speculation that there is an error because the service has not yet been opened to the mainland.
In addition to the right time, I can't do anything. I don't say uploading videos. Even updating the firmware requires the use of a USB flash drive. It really is a good waste of firewood. In fact, ER310 has a brother product, is the GC530 mentioned above, take a look at the photos, is not the same? ↓
In simple terms, compared to the ER310, the GC530 has many reviews and synchronous recording functions and video upload functions (although people upload it to youtube, and domestically expects it), and there are fewer reservations for recording and infrared remote control. In terms of video quality settings, the three are (Calculate ER130) is exactly the same. So I seriously doubt that the internal structure of the ER310 and GC530 is almost the same. As for the network and infrared functions, they just cast a castrate (I am not responsible for the nonsense, oh, oh).
V. Conclusion: Well, in fact, ER310 is also worthy of the super video king title.
As the title of this chapter puts it, the ER310 can be said to perform its duties and do what it can do. As a TV recorder, it is also worth noting, although it has obvious disadvantages.
