Guangdong 800,000 LED lights illuminate 20,000 kilometers

The author learned from the Provincial Department of Science and Technology yesterday that the province has so far tendered and installed more than 800,000 LED street lights, with an application range of 20,000 kilometers; and indoor lighting products exceeded 2.1 million baht. Under the strong promotion of the provincial government at all levels, Guangdong LED industry and application scale ranks first in the country.

In May 2012, the Guangdong Provincial Government issued the "Implementation Plan for Promoting the Use of LED Lighting Products in Guangdong Province", which requires the full application of LED lighting products in the public lighting field within three years. Why does Guangdong Province have such a high-profile transformation of street lighting and other public lighting by the provincial government, Zhu Xiaodan, the governor of the province, and the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and the implementation of tenders by local governments?

According to Li Xinghua, director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Guangdong Province has two major needs to use the government’s hands to drive the LED consumer market. First of all, Guangdong, as a major province of energy consumption, is under great pressure to save energy and reduce emissions. The LED is a new generation of energy-saving and environmental protection light source, and its durable lamps and management is simple, the economic benefits of the application is very prominent. At the same time, our province is the fastest growing region in the domestic LED industry, the industry has been included in the strategic emerging industries in the province's key development and development. Therefore, the promotion and application of this product can serve two purposes: it can save energy and reduce emissions, but also stimulate industrial development, in order to achieve the provincial government to achieve 2015 annual output value of 500 billion yuan or more. As Vice Governor Chen Yunxian said, vigorously promoting the application of LED lighting products is an effective way to break through the bottleneck of energy conservation, emission reduction and energy shortage. It is of great significance to fully realize the transformation and upgrading and to build happiness in Guangdong.

In the spirit of innovation, governments at all levels in Guangdong have explored effective models for promoting application promotion and industrial development. The provincial government issued an implementation plan in May last year, and signed work responsibility statements with local governments. Moreover, under the lagging state LED technical standards, Guangdong has also pioneered the nation's first LED lighting product benchmarking system to strictly control the quality of tender products.

Through the introduction of policy guidance, demonstration applications and commercial operations, and energy conservation and other innovative models, the province has achieved remarkable results in one year. The province has so far cumulatively promoted the use of more than 800,000 LED street lights, with more than 2.1 million indoor LED lighting products, over 20,000 kilometers of road sections, and an overall energy saving of 55%, with an accumulated saving of nearly 1 billion kwh, equivalent to saving 350,000 yuan. These innovative measures in Guangdong are highly concerned by the relevant national departments and fraternal provinces. In May this year, the General Office of the Fujian Provincial Government also launched a similar LED application program.
