It is the birth of this small silicon-based blue light-emitting diode that has made China the third country in the world to master the independent intellectual property rights of blue-light LEDs after Japan and the United States, and the only country that has realized the mass production of led chips on silicon substrates .

The first prize of the 2015 National Technology Invention Award, the "high-efficiency GaN-based blue light-emitting diode on silicon substrate" was spent. The birth of "China Core": using innovation to make core

Civilization and light source. The torch illuminates the bud of human civilization. Edison's incandescent lamp promotes the electrical age, and the fluorescent lamp pushes the technology era forward. The fourth-generation light source semiconductor light-emitting diode (LED) is the innovation of the green lighting era.

As early as 1962, LEDs came out. Formally used as an illumination source, it was a breakthrough made by Japan in 1993. This sapphire substrate LED technology won the 2014 Nobel Prize. In 1995, the United States successfully developed LED technology for silicon carbide substrate and won the 2003 US Presidential Technology Invention Award.

Led lights have obvious advantages in energy conservation and environmental protection, and countries have encouraged promotion. At the beginning of this century, China's LED upstream industry is almost blank, downstream applications have just started, power-type chips are all dependent on imports, and Japanese and American technologies occupy the global market.

In order to seize the opportunities of emerging industries, starting from the "10th Five-Year Plan", the Ministry of Science and Technology took the lead in supporting LED technology and industrial development, and established a national semiconductor lighting engineering coordination leading group to improve the international competitiveness of China's LED technology.

When the Japanese and American technology routes made breakthroughs, a young man in his early thirties began to smash the Blu-ray dream of China. He is the leading professor of silicon-based LED technology and vice president of Nanchang University, Jiang Fengyi. This Blu-ray dream is 19 years.

In 1996, in a 40-square-meter laboratory at Nanchang University, Jiang Fengyi began a dream of 600,000 yuan in loans and tracked Japanese technology to make China's LED. Four years later, he successfully produced blue, green, and violet LEDs for sapphire substrates, of which blue LEDs were put into mass production.

Domestic entirely dependent on imports led chip history rewritten, but Jiang Fengyi quickly into a new concern. There are more and more domestic LED downstream companies. It is fatal that the technical patents are in the hands of Japan and the United States, and the industry can be smashed at any time.
