Foreign media: Ukrainian multi-functional war robots are expected to enter the battlefield next year

October 16 — Ukrainian military officials recently showcased an advanced, multi-functional war robot at the American Military Exhibition Association in Washington. The robot, named "Phantom" or "Ghost," is designed to adapt to various combat scenarios by switching between different configurations and weapon systems. It can be equipped with either tank-like tracks or six-wheel mobility, allowing it to navigate diverse terrains. Additionally, it can carry a range of weapons, including anti-tank systems, grenade launchers, and machine guns. According to Ukrainian defense representatives, the Phantom could be deployed on the battlefield as early as next year. With a maximum speed of 38 kilometers per hour and a range of up to 20 kilometers, the robot is capable of operating autonomously or under remote control. It features night vision capabilities and can engage targets from a distance of up to 1 kilometer. Operators can control the robot via radio channels or a 5-kilometer fiber optic cable, ensuring reliable communication in challenging environments. The robot's versatility allows it to perform multiple tasks, such as transporting supplies, conducting combat operations, and even rescuing injured soldiers from the front lines. According to Roman Romanov, head of UkrOboronProm, the Phantom represents a significant step forward in modern warfare, offering a driverless, adaptable solution to meet evolving military challenges. While Russia also has its own ground robots, it has not yet integrated them into active combat. In contrast, the U.S. has been actively testing armed robotic systems. Earlier this year, the U.S. Navy conducted trials involving around 50 robots at a naval base in California. Officials emphasized that using advanced drones and robotic systems on the front lines helps reduce risks to human soldiers. Additionally, the U.S. is exploring new technologies, such as speedboats that can transform into submarines, to enhance stealth and tactical flexibility. As the global military landscape continues to evolve, the development and deployment of autonomous robotic systems are becoming increasingly critical. The Phantom is just one example of how nations are investing in cutting-edge technology to gain a strategic advantage in future conflicts.
