2017 Global ODM TV Industry: Contracted by Chinese Enterprises

According to Sigmaintell's survey data, in 2017 global TV shipments of global brand manufacturers fell 4% year-over-year to 228 million units in 2017.

However, the world’s top 15 ODM TV manufacturers shipped 84.9 million units, an increase of 18.1% from the same period last year. Sigmaintell's analysis is due to the fact that the foundry's technology is getting better and better in recent years, and the production speed is very fast and the cost is low. Many brands of TV manufacturers have outsourced their own low-end products to ODM factories.


According to statistics, the purchase orders of brand TV vendors increased by 15% year-on-year in 2107, so that TV ODM industry can still achieve contrarian growth in the context of a downturn.

In 2017, TPV was still the largest supplier of ODM TVs with its strong R&D capabilities. Shipment volume increased by 2.6% year-on-year to 16.3 million units. After Foxconn acquired Sharp, it successfully opened up the supply chain. In 2017, shipments increased by 72.8% to 14.6 million units, making it the second largest supplier.


Mainland television ODMs also saw huge growth. Shipments of TCL SCBC increased by 24.3% year-on-year to 8.3 million units. BOE's shipments increased by 12.5% ​​to 7.7 million units. Shenzhen MTC's shipments increased by 25.7% to 6.5 million units.

Sigmaintell expects that 2018 ODM TV market shipments will continue to rise to 88.5 million units, an increase of 4.2% over 2017.
