MIPS Technologies and Dolby Laboratories announced that the two companies are introducing next-generation audio technologies for all home entertainment applications, including set-top boxes, HD DVD and Blu-ray DiscTM markets. MIPS Technologies is the first processor IP vendor to support Dolby® Digital Plus technology. The latest optimized codecs from Dolby Laboratories will all use the MIPS32® processor core.Dolby Digital Plus is the next generation of home entertainment audio technology developed by Dolby for HD programming and media.
