Linde signs a large gas supply contract with Suzhou Samsung Electronics

On May 22, 2012, Lianhua Linde, a leading supplier of gas and solutions for the electronics industry (a joint venture between Linde Group and Taiwan Lianhua Shentong Group), announced that it has signed a long-term gas supply contract with Samsung Electronics. The latest 8.5th generation TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display Device) manufacturer in Samsung Industrial Park, China.

The signing of the bulk gas supply contract is another important milestone in the development of Linde's business, which marks the continuous expansion of Linde's business in Asia and is also of strategic importance for enhancing the market position of Lianhua Linde in the eastern part of China. . The project further strengthens Linde's position as a leading gas supplier to the electronics industry, demonstrating the growing demand for Linde's gas products and solutions in the global electronics manufacturing industry. At present, Linde Group has signed a bulk gas supply agreement with the three major flat panel display manufacturers, becoming the preferred gas supply partner for the TFT-LCD industry in China.

In the thin film transistor liquid crystal display manufacturing technology, a large amount of ultra high purity gas supply is a very important part. These gases are primarily used to make thin film transistors that control the thousands of pixels that make up a visible image.

According to research by US market research firm IHS iSuppli, the global production area of ​​large panel displays will increase by 78% in the next four years and reach 283 million square meters by 2015. In 2012 alone, analysts expect a 30% increase in global large panel display production area, with China increasing by 151%.

Under the contract, Lianhua Linde will provide Samsung Electronics with a turnkey solution for bulk gas supply, and its bulk gas plant in the Suzhou Industrial Park is expected to supply gas by the end of 2012. In addition, Lianhua Linde will build a new SPECTRA-N30000 series nitrogen generator in the factory to deliver gas to Samsung Electronics through underground pipelines. The total investment of the project is expected to reach 50 million euros (500 million yuan), which doubles the production capacity of Lianhua Linde in the Suzhou Industrial Park. It also shows the huge growth potential of the gas supply market in the electronics industry.

Samsung's new LCD panel manufacturing plant was built by Suzhou Samsung Electronics Liquid Crystal Display Technology Co., Ltd. (SLL). SLL is a joint venture established by Samsung, Suzhou Industrial Park and TCL Group in April 2011. With the completion of a series of projects, Suzhou Industrial Park is expected to become China's largest advanced LCD production cluster.
