The United States Department of Energy is the main agency leading the development of solid-state lighting. The plan focuses on technology development, product manufacturing, and commercialization. It also puts forward LED industry development indicators every year. The plan is expected to complete the LED package cost reduction by more than 70% by 2020, and the package price will drop to $ 0.7 / klm.
The plan also pointed out that by 2020, the cost of LED chips and packaging will be reduced by about 80% compared to 2012, the luminous efficiency will increase by 60-100%, and the retail price of 60W LED bulbs will be reduced by 66% from 2013.
