As found on the road to virtual reality, HTC yesterday changed the original PC recommendation specification to match the standard Vive specification. The original NVIDIA GeForce gtx1060 graphics card has been converted to the more powerful 1070. However, the 1060 remains in the new minimum specification list, so you can still use the old hardware to run the headset, but you may not get the same performance.

According to reports, HTC changed its specifications after NVIDIA's testing. The minimum specification also requires a USB 3.0 port and converts HDMI video to DisplayPort 1.2 or later. As far as the operating system is concerned, Windows 7 has been removed, leaving only Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

Vive Pro offers 3K display resolution, making VR applications more fidelity, but PCs need to use more computing power to get it. The headset will be available next week for $799 as a standalone package for existing Vive owners.
