# Original Creative Person # DAS Keyboard 4 Mechanical Keyboard Unpacking

Nowadays, everyone buys small things online, and most of the time, we rely on reviews to make decisions. Original content helps us understand products more deeply than just what's written on a store page. Aunt Zhang has been scrolling for so long, always looking for authentic reviews, getting poisoned by some, and detoxing from others. In the spirit of not always relying on ready-made content and wanting to contribute something original, I decided to share my own thoughts.

I've always been more interested in mechanical keyboards. The first time I tried one, I was completely hooked. The stable feel and long lifespan (though I think no one buys a mechanical keyboard just for its longevity) make it a great tool for gaming. I don't play games much, but I enjoy writing and coding, and this keyboard feels perfect for that.

I used to use red and tea switches, but I never got my hands on the original factory version with the strongest mechanical feedback—red axis. I still regret not having one. DAS green axes are often praised online, considered rare gems, though they come at a higher price (the cost is definitely over four digits). After some hesitation, I saw a promotion for the zFrontier 104 keyboard, and I couldn’t resist giving it a try.

This might sound a bit random, but here’s a picture below. I can’t help but comment on the quality.

Although the delivery wasn't super fast, the packaging was excellent and there was no damage. The first thing I noticed when I held it was how heavy it felt—like it was made of solid metal.

The keyboard came in an extra layer of packaging, and inside there was an envelope with a promotional card. It wasn’t an ad, just a nice touch. Another layer of protection, which I really appreciated.

The keyboard itself was well packed.

When I took it out of the box, the first thing that caught my eye was... a ruler.

Actually, it's the footrest for the keyboard, and there's a fit figure behind it.

The front of the keyboard (ignore the black box—it's the mouse pad). The top panel is frosted metal, thick and cool to the touch. For those who like customizations, there's a special non-edited version available. The U.S. version is different, and I occasionally use it for some light burning.

Another thing I need to mention: even though it's not carved, the F and J keys, along with the 5 key on the keypad, are raised, which relieved my initial concern.

A few details—I didn’t take it apart (not interested), but from the outside, it looks solid and well-made.

Back side.

The fit figure comes with two magnets on the adjustable foot, and it sticks right to the back. There are slots at both ends of the ruler to secure the footrest.

Two extended USB ports.

More cable slots. This is the full view of the keyboard. Now, let me talk about my personal experience, including a few complaints.

1. Overall, the keyboard feels very heavy and solid. The green switch is really punchy—each keystroke feels premium, and the volume is great. Compared to the red tea axis, the tactile feedback is way more intense. That’s the real deal of a mechanical keyboard! But the actuation point is slower. If you're used to red switches, you may need some time to adjust.

2. The space bar feels a bit too heavy; it requires more force to press.

3. There’s no cable management groove on the back, and the wires aren’t separated. You have to place them as shown in the photo. Plus, the cable is quite thick, and I think a thinner one would be better.

4. Before seeing the pictures, I thought the keyboard would be huge and take up a lot of space. But in reality, it's much smaller than I expected—it's even smaller than the 3494 Cherry.

5. The multimedia scroll wheel feels great, even if I don’t use it much. It's fun to have. Also, there's a small button next to the moon on the multimedia key that puts the computer to sleep. Does anyone know how to disable it?

That’s all. Hope my review helps someone decide whether this keyboard is right for them.
