Guangdong plans to popularize LED public lighting for three years

Following May 23, the Guangdong Provincial Government issued the “Implementation Plan for Promoting the Use of LED Lighting Products in Guangdong Province” (hereinafter referred to as the “Implementation Plan”). On May 28th, Guangdong Province held a working conference on the promotion and application of LED lighting products. Li Xinghua, Director of Guangdong Science and Technology Department, interpreted the Implementation Plan.

Li Xinghua pointed out that in recent years, the economy of Guangdong Province is facing a structural transformation. At the same time, the overall economic situation has forced Guangdong Province to vigorously develop strategic emerging industries: “The Guangdong LED industry has become an explosive industry with its explosive growth rate and unparalleled global production capacity. One of the breakthroughs and main directions of the development of strategic emerging industries in Guangdong, under the current economic situation, the LED industry can not only directly stimulate economic growth in Guangdong, but also better promote the transformation of Guangdong's economic structure and achieve energy-saving emission reduction targets. The LED industry is an important measure to implement the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government's plans to speed up the development of strategic emerging industries, and to change the mode of development."

“3 years of popularization of LED lighting in the public lighting field. It has taken the lead in the lighting field of public lighting, namely, roads, public places, government agencies, state-owned enterprises, and other financial or state-owned capital investment projects, to complete the promotion and application of LED lighting products. From the date of implementation of the Implementation Plan, lighting products such as LED street lamps, garden lamps, and landscape lamps will be used in newly-built lighting projects in the above areas. The original non-LED lighting products used in the above-mentioned areas will be implemented in stages and batches before the end of 2014 within 3 years. Completion. The Pearl River Delta region will strive to use two years, to be completed before the end of 2013." Li Xinghua said that the development goal of the LED industry in Guangdong Province is to reach the annual output value of 500 billion yuan or more by the end of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”.

It is understood that as of the end of 2011, Guangdong Province, LED lighting demonstration project has promoted the use of LED street lamps of 250,000 tons, driving the LED lighting industry to reach an annual output value of 151.5 billion yuan, ranking first in the country.
