From July 14th to 16th, Xu Rui Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. Sapphire removal technology

Most LED products are produced on sapphire substrates. Manufacturing a 2-inch sapphire wafer, consuming an average of more than 200 kWh of electricity, puts a heavy burden on the environment.

The LED chips of other manufacturers did not remove the sapphire substrate, so that sapphire not only became the bottleneck of LED heat dissipation, but also wasted sapphire wafer.

The Xurui metal substrate vertical structure chip does not consume sapphire wafers or silicon carbide, and is the most environmentally friendly LED chip on the market. Xurui's unique patented technology and unique manufacturing process do not waste sapphire wafers, minimizing emissions. Moreover, the removal of the sapphire substrate also removes the LED thermal bottleneck, providing the market with the most environmentally friendly LED products.

High thermal conductivity LED chip extends LED life
At room temperature, copper is the best in thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity in addition to silver. Therefore, the heat generated in the chip can be quickly exported by the thermally conductive copper alloy layer, which is a great advantage for the lamp manufacturer. If the heat conduction of the material inside the chip is not good, the heat dissipation effect during the external heat dissipation of the lamp will be greatly reduced.

Take a 1W LED chip as an example. The chip size is 1mm*1mm and the height is 145um. The thermal conductivity of copper is 401 W/m*k, the thermal conductivity of silicon is 130 W/m*k, and the thermal conductivity of sapphire is 42 W/m*k.

After calculation, the thermal resistance of the Xurui chip substrate is 0.35k/W, the thermal resistance of the silicon substrate is 1.12 k/W, and the thermal resistance of the sapphire substrate is 3.45 k/W. It can be seen that the thermal resistance of the conventional sapphire substrate LED chip is 10 times that of the Asahi copper substrate chip.

The greater the thermal resistance, the higher the junction temperature in LED operation, the higher the junction temperature, and the shorter the LED lifetime.

The advantages of Xurui high-efficiency copper alloy structure are also reflected in the long-life, high-quality white light package. Compared with the traditional sapphire LED chip, in the test of the color temperature stability of the aging test, the white LED using the Xurui chip has a color temperature drift of only 2% in 1000 hours; and the white color temperature of the chip using the sapphire structure. It drifts to the blue spectrum by 20%, which is caused by the effect of high temperature on the chemical properties of the phosphor.

According to the high-tech LED reporter, Xurui Optoelectronics currently uses the latest 4-inch sapphire substrate for mass production. The first phase of building high-power chips will reach 20kk/month.
