2. The high-gain antenna is a passive device, which cannot amplify the signal itself, but the high-gain antenna can significantly increase the energy density in the communication direction and increase the signal / noise ratio, thereby expanding the communication range. However, the cost of high-gain antennas is relatively high, and their geometric dimensions and weights are relatively large. They are only suitable for fixed installation.
