The new viewfinder design will be used in Canon SLR systems to provide users with an unrestricted viewfinder experience that can be captured through the viewfinder even when the reflector is raised.

From the patent schematic diagram, the technology will add an electronic viewfinder component to the existing conventional optical viewfinder, so that it can be realized by an optical viewfinder in the case of common capture, and in the case where the reflector such as video recording is raised. The EVF is used to complete the framing, so that the SLR system can also realize the video recorded by the viewfinder, which increases the stability of the handheld shooting.
Like the touch screen that was added to the early 650D, the author thinks that this technology will also have good practicality.
